A Comfortable, Compact Mouse with an ON/OFF Button!! October 24, 2003 110 out of 116 found this review helpful
I bought this mouse to replace by generic USB wheel mouse that I was using with my Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop computer, which runs Windows XP Pro. This mouse was a breeze to install. There are two parts, the mouse and the receiver - can't get much simpler than that. Turn off your computer, plug the receiver into a USB port, put the 2-AA batteries in the mouse, turn on the mouse and fire up the computer. Windows XP Pro found the new hardware right away. To "synch up" the mouse, just press the Connect button on the receiver, then press the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse, install the software (CD provided) and off you go. What I love about this mouse is that is doesn't feel like a tiny, notebook mouse. It is sturdy and has some weight to it. Another great feature is the ON/OFF button (THANK YOU LOGITECH!!) so you don't suck the life out of double A's or rechargeable batteries. Logitech also provides a neoprene soft case for your mouse. I have always used Logitech mice on my desktop and have always been happy with their products.
Great laptop mouse March 24, 2004 48 out of 49 found this review helpful
I purchased this mouse for use with a new Dell 8600 laptop, after months of using a tiny Targus corded mouse with another laptop. What an improvement! This unit is very responsive, has a solid feel to it, fits well in my hand, and when compared to a desktop unit it is smaller in size (convenient for travel) without being annoyingly tiny. It is a highly desirable upgrade over other laptop input devices. As with most Logitech products, it is easy to install, is very accurate, has a quality feel, and allows quick setup for each use. One reviewer wrote that the buttons offer too much resistance, but I have been a huge fan of such tactile feedback since purchasing my first HP calculator back in the early eighties. To each his own! I find the cordless function to be even more beneficial with a laptop mouse than it is on a desktop unit, and the on/off switch is a nice touch to save battery life when the unit is not in use. All in all, I find this to be the best laptop mouse I have used to date. I would give it four and a half stars if possible, since all products can be improved. But since that is not an option, I give it a five as being the current cream of the crop.
Best mouse I've ever owned. July 7, 2004 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
(Revision: after a while, a mechanical problem developed when I didn't fully lift my finger off a mouse click and it thought the click was complete. This lead to many misclicks, inappropriate double-clicks, and other problems. Still a great mouse... you can't avoid problems in one out of a million mice). This mouse is by far the best accessory I have for my laptop. There are a lot of reviews citing the USB connector as too stiff or sticking out too much, but let me tell you: it is better than the bulky connectors other manufacturers make. Here are my other comments, in list form: 1. The mouse is stylish and solid. With the batteries in it is a nice weight and doesn't feel flimsy. 2. Battery life. I use two rechargeable AA batteries that I have not charged since I bought the mouse about a month ago. The on/off switch on the bottom is a great feature. I had to get used to the concept of turning my mouse off when I wasn't using it, but once I did I realized I was saving battery life with little effort. 3. The cordless receiver and the mouse fit great into the included carrying case; one of the best features of this mouse for people on the run. 4. The range is great. Once you go to a cordless mouse, especially this one, you will never go back to one with a cord. 5. Setup was a snap. I never touched any drivers on any computer. After less than a minute of detection in Windows XP it worked without a hitch. When I connected it to my PowerMac with Mac OS X, it worked within seconds. Truly seamless. 6. Great laptop accessory. I bought a desktop replacement (17" screen) laptop computer because I needed performance, processor power, and graphics precision. It is hard to do graphics with the included touch pad, but as soon as I plug in this mouse, I have an instant mobile desktop. It enhances mobile performance with a smile. In summary, I haven't bought any other cordless mice to compare because I don't need to. If you get this mouse, you won't regret it.
One computer device that works like it should March 24, 2004 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I purchased this mouse when I transitioned from my old desktop into a new laptop. I was just looking for a way to help keep the cord clutter down to a minimum. Logitech is a brand name that I've grown to trust in the past however, this devise has far exceeded my expectations in every way. First is the design the mouse, it is large enough to cup into the hand reducing finger and wrist strain. Second is battery life, I have run consistently everyday for at least two months before changing the battery and when the battery started to go it was noticeable with out be obtrusive, meaning I could limp along for a little till I found the chance to run to the store. Thirdly is it's connection strength to the computer, most of the time when I plug the USB device in to my machine it automatically connects to the mouse, no pressing the connect button. Fourth is the size of the receiver, wow is it small and it all fits into the zipped pouch that comes with the mouse. Lastly is the optical sensor, I've run this mouse on all kinds of surfaces, white melamine, photographs, and my couch cushions, every time it is precise and fast. This is one purchase is am thoroughly pleased with.
Good wireless mouse for laptops November 7, 2003 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is a great working mouse. It does have a solid feel and works just like a corded mouse. I had tried a cheaper Targus mouse but I had to take it back because it simply wouldn't response to mouse clicks. But the one nice thing about the Targus unit was the small receiver unit was hinged and would swing 90 degrees. The Logitech receiver is rigid. The wheel works good and the buttons have a good feel also. Sorry, but I bought this unit at Staples for $30 and it is well worth it.
