What a great tv/computer monitor! March 29, 2008 21 out of 25 found this review helpful
By the time I came home from work, my wife and 12-year-old had it out of the box and attached to the cable. We moved our MacMini to the living room, used a DVI-HDMI converter ($20 from Target) and a HDMI cable to hook the computer up to the "tv." The 1920x1080 makes for a very nice big space to work/view.
Now my daughter watches old tv shows off the web and we have a second computer for those times when one of the kids is desperate to finish their homework. One important note for computer use: on first use as a monitor, click "View Mode" on the tv remote, select "Dot for Dot" to view the whole 1920x1080.
Great picture, no dead pixels--this Sharp Aquos met all our expectations. Highly recommended.
Great Picture April 19, 2008 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is my first hdtv and the word that comes to mind to best describe its image quality is "crisp." You will definitely see everything your picture source has to offer. And even many analog cable channels look better on this set than they do on my old 32" Sony CRT model. The many available inputs allow you to hook up just about any peripheral you want. The sound quality from the built-in speakers is better than you might expect, especially considering their size. This model is also quite "green" as, according to my Kill-A-Watt electricity monitor, it consumes only 18 Watts when turned off and 183 Watts when operating.
What's not to like? The manual is somewhat skimpy and unclear in some areas. The placement of the buttons on the remote could have been more user-friendly, as the ones you use the most are close to less-used buttons. Operating this remote by touch only, without looking to see what you're pressing, is fairly difficult. And changing channels can take several seconds, especially when going from a digital to an analog channel, and vice-versa. This is common with many brands, however.
Otherwise, no complaints and I'd definitely buy a Sharp hdtv again.
Excellent TV March 19, 2008 18 out of 24 found this review helpful
I just received the TV from JandR (through Amazon) and set it up last night. The instructions on setting up the stand are confusing and the pictures in the manual are useless. You'd think by now the Japanese would know how to write clear instructions.. learn from Apple. That being said it is not that hard to figure out just a tad annoying at first. The TV is not as thin as I thought but it is light and well built. I had zero dead pixels so very happy there. I plugged in my cable and within 10 minutes the channel scan was done and the QAM tuner picked up 20+ HDTV channels from Time Warner. The 1080i quality is superb (cable does not broadcast in 1080p) and watching a movie through my PS3 (blu-ray) was a whole new experience. I have not tried HDMI yet as the component accept 1080P. I stil need to calibrate the picture but for now i am a happy shopper.
PS. the speakers are actually not bad for a small room.
Excellent clarity April 20, 2008 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This 32" 1080p was purchased to use in a presentation kiosk and is connected to a PC and DVD player (upconverts to 1080p) via the HDMI connectors. The output from both sources is excellent. The 1920 x 1080 resolution from the PC is cystal clear and the sound is better than expected. I'm very happy with this LCD HDTV.
My Birthday Present March 5, 2008 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
I really like this New technology. This is my first wide screen TV and I love it. The set up was easy right out of the box. No instructions ever used. Currently we just hooked it up to our old DVD player and Dish satelite. I bought it from PCNATION. There was Fed ex tracking and free delivery. 3 days just like they said from Chicago, Il. to Fort Myers, Fl. We have watched regular TV and movies and the picture quality is great. This is the new version which is lighter and thinner. We are looking for another one for the living room 42 or 46 inches. I would recommend this TV to anyone.
