EXCEPTIONAL 19" LCD/DVD--5 STARS !!! July 31, 2008 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
After considerable research, this small, and very light weight Sharp looked to be the best 19"LCD with a built-in DVD player. And it is. The picture from Dish Net at 1080i is stunning (both HD & SD), as is the performance of the DVD player. Offair digital tuner works better than most; as well as my Elite 50" Plasma. HDMI hookup is the best, just wish they could have given a second HDMI input, but there are other inputs.
Amazon.com had the most accurate product info.(none on Sharp's site), and the BEST PRICE ONLINE OR RETAIL! As a Prime member, got it in two days. Overall quality and performance is higher than expected. This newly released unit is quite impressive.
Works Great!!! September 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We purchased this TV to take camping for my special needs daughter. We run it off of a generator and it helps her when she gets stressed out. It is compact enough to transport and yet big enough that the picture quality is great. The DVD players works fine and was very easy to operate.
Splendid TV/DVD October 1, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had this TV for two weeks. It is a superb unit. It connected to a cablebox using an HDMI cable. I purchased the set to use in a bedroom and to take with me to show videos that I use to assit me in teaching. It weighs only 12 pounds and can be moved easily from place to place. The HD picture is superb. I found that the factory setting for sharpness was too intense. I reset it to 20 to make the picture softer. The non-HD picture was good but not equal to the HD picture quality. The sound is good. It has automatic volume control to keep the sound constant during the ads. I really like that feature. It also has an earphone jack. I found that my Bose noise canceling headphones ("Q3's) produced an annoying hum. However, my non noise canceling headphones worked just fine. The progressive scan DVD player is outstanding. The THX version of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" was superb. It will play movies on DVD-R discs. I use imovie and idvd to edit my home movies. The DVD played them with ease. I like Sharp TV's. I also own a 37" Sharp LCD HD TV which is 5 years old. The picture quality is still great and has been trouble free. Even though the price is bit more spendy than for similar models, the overall quality of the 19" Sharp TV makes the cost reasonable and it deserves a five star rating.
No Customer Service at Sharp September 8, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
You better hope you have no problems with this TV as Sharp Customer Service is the worst! I have called them twice to get simple answers to questions like " What size bolts to use to mount TV on a wall bracket?" their answer, "Sorry we don't have that information". Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told, "You'll have to call back, no supervisor here."
