Product Description AirPlay is the first and only iPod-powered FM Transmitter that works across the full FM frequency band without the need to install software. Allowing iPod users to play audio wirelessly from their iPod through any FM radio, AirPlay is perfect for use in automobiles, especially those without a cassette player or auxiliary input jack.AirPlay matches iPod's ease-of-use. Plug it in, tune it, and push play. AirPlay is smaller, simpler, and better than any iPod FM Transmitter ever made.AirPlay features an easy-to-read illuminated digital frequency display, which turns off automatically after tuning to conserve iPod battery power. When iPod begins to play, AirPlay automatically transmits on the last used radio frequency. Because of its energy efficient design, when the iPod is not playing, the Airplay automatically powers off. With Airplay, there is no need to navigate menus in the iPod. Selecting a new frequency is easy, simply find an unused FM frequency on the radio, then press AirPlay's tuning buttons to quickly select the new frequency.AirPlay is a marvel of miniaturization, packing more features and better performance into a smaller package than any other FM transmitter. It is so compact that it does not block the iPod's hold switch. AirPlay is designed to work universally with all iPods with Dock Connector and Click Wheel iPods, including iPod photo, iPod U2 Special Edition, iPod from HP, as well as iPod mini.

Does the job that others did not do. June 20, 2005 48 out of 49 found this review helpful
I bought this unit after trying the Itrip by Griffen Technologies which I found to be unsatisfactory. This unit does the job. In my car and on my boat, the Airplay works very well, even here in Southern California where there really aren't any completely clear FM frequencies. The Airplay seems to have much more power than at least two other FM transmitters I have tried, which enable it to function very well.
Setting up the Airplay is simplicity itself; one simply plugs it into the top of the Ipod and dial in the desired FM frequency. No software to deal with. Make sure that the volume control of the Ipod is at about 60-70%--this is the only critical setting. The Airplay has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the Ipod by enabling me to use the Ipod anywhere I have an FM radio, thereby letting me use the nice speaker systems in my boat and car. Great! One day, of course, car and marine stereos will have Ipod docks. But until that happy day, the Airplay will be there for us.
Works Well June 20, 2005 21 out of 23 found this review helpful
I bought this item after returning the Belkin FM Modulator for iPod mini after it died only after five days of use. I have been very pleased with this item. It works well and is incredibly small and simple to use. The sound quality is better than the Belkin. It seems less hollow and tinny. The sound quality is much better in my husband's truck than in my car. I think the type of car speakers you have makes a difference. I have not had a hard time finding empty stations for it to play on either. So, I do recomend this product. It works well and is small and compact.
Toss your iTrip to someone else... February 27, 2005 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
I passed my SECOND iTrip on to a new iPodder, the second I opened my airplay. Its awesome because 1) If you choose to shuffle through all of your songs, then it won't accidentally change stations on you, and 2) If you live in an area that like Baltimore, has some sort of signal coming in to most stations, and depending on where you drive the signal strength changes... you don't have to know in advance which stations will work. Also, it wont die as quickly as my first iTrip did.
Great for what it's intented May 16, 2005 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Talk about easy...
Plug the thing in to the top of your iPod (either the full-size or a mini), set it to an empty radio station, and go!
As mentioned in other reviews, this FM transmitter is subject to the physics of frequency modulation, just like any wave medium. As long as you have your iPod volume set to 50-75% (as recommended by the instructions), you will have no problems.
This is a great tool for long road trips, or areas with poor radio reception. As long as you understand the limitations of FM radio, you won't regret having this item as an indispensable iPod accessory.
Brilliant July 16, 2005 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
Wow! I was scared to purchase an FM transmitter of any sort because of the mixed (mostly awful) reviews. This product AMAZED me! Here are a few conditions to consider before purchasing this product: 1. I live in a medium sized town which has many clear stations (clear meaning 100% static baby)! If you are as lucky as myself definitely purchase this item. The best way to choose a station: If there are several consecutive "clear" stations in a row, choose the one in the middle; it's the least likely for interference. 2. If you are obsessive compulsive about your sound quality and only buy gold cd's, please get your iPod hardwired to your car. During a long drive I only got static ONCE for approximately three seconds while at the top of a large hill. Also, some MP3's are better than others. On your home computer find your best sounding MP3 and compare it to the Airplay when in your car. I found it is virtually perfect in there too! (No static, and completely clear!) 3. Some car receivers are better than others. It is a proven fact. My friend just bought a brand new car which can not receive NPR which her old car and my current car can. A car with a stronger receiver will work better with the Airplay. 4. Make sure the iPod has plenty of battery power. As with most electronics low batteries means worse performance. Remember how your tape deck in your "boombox" sounded when running out of batteries? Honestly, I was considering selling my iPod on ebay before buying this product. I never listened to it when out and about, but was dying to hear the songs in my car. I LOVE the AIRPLAY!
