This is a great product. I have the incredibly small recorder for the Nano. Voices and musical instruments sound very life like. The bad news is that there is a lot of hiss. Not being a sound engineer I don't know if this is unavoidable or not. I use a software program called Soundsoap to clean up my recordings. It would be great if this was part of a bundle.

It is so easy to use that I didn't think I had done all that was necessary. Easy to record and playback (I used it to record 62 pages of script for memorization and have been playing back as I walked/drove/watched the ball game!). The device is small and flexible so is easy to stow. Judging by the fact that my husband's voice speaking to me in the background is easy to hear on the recording, think it would work to record conversations, etc.

I am currently in college and bought this to help me memorize some things. This is very easy to use and works great! I am very impressed. I can record the terms that I am learning and listen to it on my way to class. This is an awesome invention! J Davis
Excellent Portable Recorder July 7, 2007
I was looking for something to replace my tape recorder and all the cassettes that I lug around for recording my voice lessons. I researched what was available for my iPod nano since I live with this device and it would be extremely convenient to have recordings always available on it. I could play it in my car, at home, you name it.
What intrigued my about the Micormemo over the Belkin and other products was the flexible mic feature and the fact that it could accept external audio inputs.
I am amazed at the recording capability of the Micromemo out of the box. I was recording in a 12' x 12' voice studio where I was moving around while singing. It picked up everything clearly and the tonal quality of the recording was amazing. It far surpassed my old tape recorder.
The downside of the Micromemo is that the speaker is useless. The playback is inaudible and garbled. But frankly I don't care. As a recording device it far surpasses my needs. If I want to listen to the recording I will plug in a decent pair of headphones or speakers.
Works as advertised August 3, 2007
I plugged it in and it worked as advertised. I didn't experience any of the skipping or other problems mentioned in other reviews. Works fantastic for this price point.
