Product Description The Wireless-N Gigabit Router is three devices in one package. There's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. Unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the Good Neighbor mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band. To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games.

Hits it outa the park! February 22, 2008 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
My Wireless G quit working. I didn't want to mess with it anymore. So I hopped down to Office Max and bought this router. I intended to upgrade in the future anyway so this was my excuse.
Since I'm used to Linksys and also wireless, I figured this would not be much to install. I was right. It installed simply. I do suggest you put the CD in first and follow all the little rules. Even though you may know a lot about these things.
There is one mistake in the setup instructions. It tells you to put the cable from your PC into the Internet on the router. Wrong. The cable modem cable goes there. But you knew that. Right?
I also bought a wireless N adapter for my laptop, even though it's a wireless G machine. I'm glad I did. It works just great.
The speed between computers is just unreal! And the range is fantastic. I even feel that the Internet is faster. Oh, I know a router can't make the Internet faster. But it seems like it to me.
The speed difference between G and N is just out of this world. I'm very pleased with the router. Keep in mind, I just bought it today. So I may post an update.
But going from 57mbps to 135mbps is a real jump in speed. If you're ready to upgrade, go for this. You won't be disappointed.

Great router, so far February 28, 2008 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
Found my NetGear router dead (unsurprising after reading forums and reviews of the model I had), so I replaced it with this one. It was very easy to setup and it supports WMM (wireless multimedia) and QoS which was important to me since I have the T-Mobile Blackberry Curve that can do calls over WiFi. I did not install any software and had no problem getting this thing to work with my Macs and PCs -- however, I have had several LinkSys routers in the past, which made knowing how to set this up without installing software pretty easy.
Beware, what another reviewer said about this router not being a "true N specification". It is fully compliant with the latest draft standards. It uses MIMO technology (40MHz wide bandwidth), and operates in both the 2.4GHz and 5.2GHz spectrums. And it is true gigabit ethernet for wired devices (the spec sheet does state gigabit, several times actually. I checked the sheet, and I'm getting gigabit throughput between my two wired machines plugged into the router. It's also important to realize that gigabit is way faster than even the fastest DSL or cable modem, so that measure of speed is only relevant when communicating between 2 computers that are both plugged into this router via an Ethernet cable.)
FANTASTIC Router March 29, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic router. I had recently moved from a Verizon Fios area and back into a cable only area. I had been forced for the past several years to endure the Verizon provided router (Actiontec) and it was ok. So I now had an excuse to buy a new router.
I have a mixed environment in my house of both wired and wireless computers. I'm also used to surfing at Verizon FIOS speeds of 20 Mbps up and downstream. So speed is of a high importance to me.
This Linksys router handles my network like a champ. I've had no problems that other posters have experienced. The configuration and setup was a snap and actually going into the router to configure more settings is pretty easy as well.
I highly recommend this router if your looking for a good gigabit router. My speeds are FAST and I've been getting over 16 Mbps on a cable connection. Very nice for cable!
Pretty Good router March 20, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I upgraded from Linksys G to this. This has a lot better range. Happy with purchase. I did have a problem getting it working with Bellsouth (ATT) ISP. But after a call to Linksys they helped me and I was up right away.
Fabulous June 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This router was so easy to install...less than 3 minutes. Blazing speed and strong signal strength make this a no-brainer. I replaced my old router that kept dropping signal and cannot believe how fast it is. Don't hesitate, this is the one!
