Delicious oatmeal October 8, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I never liked traditional oatmeal because of its slimy texture. McCann's steel cut instant has no slime factor, tastes delicious, and cooks quickly. I noticed that I was buying a new can every couple of weeks at the grocery store, so the six pack was a good way to save a little money and time.
As far as cooking goes, I've tried stove-top, microwave, and, most recently, rice cooker. The rice cooker is by far the best: add oatmeal with water and raisins, press a button, and walk away. Twenty minutes later the oatmeal is ready and tastes as good as that cooked on stove-top.
Quick and chewy oatmeal March 22, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Say goodbye to that mushy instant stuff. This has body and substance.
This oatmeal cooks in about 5 minutes. I add 2 tablespoons of milled flax seed and 1/4 cup of skim milk to it when it is almost done. While this is cooking I defrost frozen blueberries in the microwave (80 seconds on power 3). Then I pour the oatmeal over the bluberries. Absolutely a yummy breakfast that holds until lunch time.
And this breakfast every day will significantly cut your cholesterol.
If you think you don't like oatmeal, you really owe it to yourself to try McCann's Quick and Easy Steel Cut variety.
Nutritious, Delicious, AND Convenient from McCann's... April 5, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having been a Quaker Old-Fashioned Oats fan for years, I was not particularly looking for a replacement, but I had read about steel cut oats and wanted to give them a try. I bought some at a health food store, and I was not too impressed mostly due to the fact that to cooking time was so much more than regular oatmeal. I happened onto the McCann's Quick and Easy product on Amazon, and ordered some for a trial.
I concur with all the five star opinions about the texture, convenience, and taste. In six minutes (five minutes cooking, one minute post cooking wait) with conventional stove top cooking, you can have a perfect breakfast. I like mine with a little maple syrup and butter. You cannot beat the product or the price offered by Amazon.
greatest oatmeal November 7, 2007 I have tried several oatmeals and this is the best. Easy to cook but with all the fantastic taste of steel cut oats.
Best Quick-Cook Oatmeal Yet! February 1, 2008 I've always wanted to get into the habit of eating healthier during the mornings, but could never stomach the slimy texture of the major store brands of oatmeal. I never knew the difference between steamed rolled oats and steelcut oats, until now! This quick & easy oatmeal was extremely easy to prepare (I used the microwave) and the texture was beautiful. It was not gooky or slimy, but had texture and before I knew it my bowl was wiped clean. I highly recommend this product, although I've noticed how quickly this has already sold out on amazon! Oh no...
