Product Description Slim design / Fits into your refrigerator door / Reduces chlorine taste / Includes pitcher and one filter
Amazon.com Review For crisp, clean drinking water in small family or single-person households, Brita offers their Slim Pitcher with Filter. The filter reduces impurities and harmful substances from tap water and holds approximately 40 liquid ounces. The slim pitcher fits neatly into many refrigerator doors, enabling users to maximize shelf space. Certified by the National Sanitation Foundation International, Brita water filters contain a mesh screen to catch sediment and particles as tap water flows through into the pitcher's basin. Brita pitchers employ an ion exchange resin with activated carbon granules to draw mercury, zinc, copper and cadmium from tap water, trapping these harmful elements inside the filter. Brita filters eradicate up to 98 percent of the lead found in tap water while significantly reducing other impurities and dangerous bacteria including cryptosporidium, giardia, and benzene. Additionally, the odor and flavor of chlorine are removed from drinking water. Brita filters should be replaced every 40 gallons or after two months of use. Replacement filters can be purchased separately. Wash the Slim Pitcher by hand in lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Brita offers a limited 90-day warranty on pitchers in the event of manufacturer defects. The pitcher weighs two pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

Great for College Students November 4, 2005 42 out of 49 found this review helpful
The cost of bottled water adds up and can burn a hole in your wallet, especially if you're a starving student. The Brita pitcher is affordable and saves you more money. And it's also a healthy approach to drinking sodas which adds a great deal of sugar and pounds. Don't let the size fool you. It's not heavy and doesn't take up room. I highly recommend getting this product as to buying spring water in bulk and gallons. You won't feel that you're wasting money and you will get six to eight glasses of water each day.

You cant beat it for the cost and the size is perfect for one person, probably tolerable for two if you refill after each use.
Makes "bought" water absolete July 16, 2006 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
excellent filtration, good pitcher. this pitcher does not have automatic digital reminder, so you have to make a note for yourself. average brita filter lasts 40 gallons.
The pitcher of health! November 17, 2007 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I've observed that it's the tree-hugger types that drink lots and lots and lots of bottled water. Think about this. If there are, by a very conservative SWAG estimate, 5 million Americans (or about 1/50th of our population) drinking four 12-ounce bottles of water a day, that's 7,300,000,000 plastic bottles being added to our landfills every year.
That's seven billion, three hundred million. If you laid those 7.3 billion bottles end to end, with no gaps between the bottles, that'd be a *really* long line. (According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, about 1/3rd of Americans drink bottled water "regularly.")
My point is, Brita water pitchers and filters have the potential to keep countless billions of plastic bottles out of the waste stream. That's a massive benefit.
Now that I'm well into my fifth decade, I drink lots of water each day and I think this Brita pitcher is the best thing since sliced banana nut bread made with safflower oil. No kidding. It filters out all kinds of nasty toxins and provides clean, tasty, healthy water - at a FRACTION of the cost of bottled water.
Plus, despite the popular criticisms of our municipal water systems, they do provide a good, reliable supply of healthy water. Our generation (baby boomers) may not fully appreciate this, but thanks to water treatment, chlorine and filtration, this country hasn't had a water-borne case of cholera or E. Coli in many decades.
Color me skeptical, but I have my doubts about the purity and safety of bottled "spring water" that costs 500 times more than tap water.
Pouring your tap water (which can contain heavy metals and other nasties) through a Brita filter is the best of all worlds. Cheap water, clean water and healthy water.
If I were queen of the world (and it shouldn't be long now), I'd put the bottled water companies out of business and ask folks to turn wholly to filtration systems (such as Brita) to provide clean, pottable water. And re-use those billions of water bottles for brita-purified water.
The only thing that'd make Brita better ---> create a new filter that also filters out flouride. Their current filters do not and I'm not convinced of the safety of flouride.
Lastly, these pitchers are well-made and easy to clean and tough to break. I've had one Brita pitcher for more than six years now and it still looks like new.
Great Tasting Water February 7, 2007 4 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have bought this water filter because I was sick and tired of lugging gallons of water home. Setting up took some time. You have to prep the filter before using it. I don't read instructions so I put everything together and put water in it and saw it come out black. Of course I was upset and ready to call Brita to tell them how I was suckered into buying junk. But then read the instructions have found out that I have to prep the filter; soak it, and rinse it and whatever else to it so it would work properly. Great product but filter is a hassle to get it ready for usage.
