Worth the money August 24, 2007 74 out of 74 found this review helpful
Wow, this crock pot is amazing! After reading reviews on all of the new versions out there, I decided on this one (even though it was more expensive than the others I was considering). Boy am I glad I did! This one cooks with the proper heat and did not smell like plastic, like some reviews claimed. It is extremely versatile: I have used it in the microwave and have sauted in it on the stovetop as well. It makes cooking an entire meal in one pot very easy and tasty. And I pop it in the dishwasher when I'm done---SO EASY! This crock pot is definitely worth the money!
Great crock pot! November 8, 2007 51 out of 51 found this review helpful
I like the versitility of this. Being able to brown on stove top with the difusser, then slow cook, saves time and work. Does a great job and the timer is very handy when it needs to stop before you get home. Handles on this model are much better, broke the others off right away, these are much stronger.
Nice Crock Pot - Have researched over about 30 so far and this is the best. January 10, 2008 48 out of 48 found this review helpful
Over the last 3 months, my husband and I researched crockpots- it had become such a joke actually....who spends this much time researching crockpots! So we finally decided to purchase this crockpot- so glad we did!.
I love the versatility of this crock - for example, we made pot roast the other night. I browned the meat in the crock on my gas stove, then took it off the stove and put it right into the steel (pot) container and proceeded to cook directly in the pot for 6 hours - savoring all of the beef browning bits etc.
Afterwards, I put the crock and the lid right into the fridge.
About the crock. the handles get hot if you do not keep your fingers on the plastic lined handles, that is my only small complaint.
Otherwise this pot looks good and cooks good. So glad we went with a rival, and not a glass topped Rival.
Let me add this too-the crock is a bronzish type color, really pretty and modern & the stonewear is a dark chocolate brown
I love this crockpot! October 9, 2007 43 out of 44 found this review helpful
Being able to brown and cook in the VersaWare slow cooker was the selling point for me. It has it all, dishwasher safe, can be used in the microwave and then to the fridge. No offensive ordors as others have reported with VersaWare crockpots. I call it "my new best friend".
Great Crockpot June 1, 2008 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
We have owned this crockpot for over 6 months now and use it on average once a week. It is a great quaility item and we haven't had any issues. We like the simple programming and have used it to brown meat in the same pan. We aren't sure why so many people are giving the item low stars. If you drop the lid, why wouldn't you expect it to chip or break? Its STONEWARE, not metal. Don't blame the product for your carelessness. If you dropped a dinnerplate and it cracked, would you blame the produce or the person dropping the product? We have two crockpots that we bought at the same time and after using each a couple of times, we never use the "other" brand unless cooking for the masses. They both cost around the same yet the this crockpot seems to be made of quality materials and doesn't feel "cheap". I find it odd that people have said in reviews that they "wouldn't brown meat in it" for whatever reason, but never tried. How can you give a produce a bad review when you haven't even tried using it. To me it seems that those people have an axe to grind. If you want a crockpot where you pour in a Marie Calendar's crock pot meal and call that cooking, go buy a walmart piece of junk special. If you want a crockpot that you can actually do some real cooking in, this pot is for you. Just to set the record straight, this is a great quality crockpot that works as advertised.
