one of my favorite photo magazines April 19, 2002 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
American Photo is one of my favorite photography magazines. It's beautifully made and full of great articles. There is some technical pieces in it, but what I really love about the magazine is that it isn't just a technical magazine (like Popular Photography), it's issues cover artists and events happening. I feel all photographers, regardless of whether you are a novice or an advanced professional, should subscribe. The only fault I can find is that it comes out bimonthly and not every month.

The thing I love about American Photo is that it is about photographs and the people that take them. You won't find yet another "Slide Film Shootout". Instead, you will find great pictures and what it took to create them. Pick one up at the news stand and check it out, then subscribe.
Full of helpful hints and useful tips April 16, 2002 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
This magazine has been my bible for the past few years. Reviews of all the cameras have helped me purchase most of my photography equipment. There are many adds which show you a variety of different equiptment of which is on the market. I tell my student's and peers many of the tips and hints found in American Photo. Thank you for such a great magazine!
THE PERFECT PHOTOGRAPHY MAGAZINE ALMOST March 9, 2004 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
I say almost due to the fact that Aperture gives them a good run for the money. You know those photography magazines with about 10 pages of pictures and articles and the rest is advertising? This is not it! If you enjoy a magazine that delivers informative photographing techniques, get this one! If you are interested in seeing the work of other photographer's, get this magazine! If you want a hot collectible, GET THIS MAGAZINE!!! Yes there are ads in here, but not a ton of them. For you guys (and girls) out there who love to see the occasional beautiful star photographed, get this magazine. One of the aspects of this magazine that I like, is the fact that the photo layouts are sometimes full page, unlike some magazines where you have to get out a magnifying glass to view the photos. And this one IS a hot collectible, though the French version of it is an even hotter collectible. Whether it's nature, special effects, or provocative photography, this one is a superb magazine. In short, this one is a must get for the photography fan.
My Favortie Photo Mag. July 8, 2003 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Just a lover of photography with a few classes under my belt, I do love getting this magazine! The only one of my magazines that never disappoints me (have recently cancelled all other mag. subscriptions, about 6, there just isn't consistency!). My significant other is a professional photographer and steals every one of them from me as soon as possible!Great magazine, if you enjoy photography at all!
