5 out of 5 stars Great for the Mature Man   July 1, 2004

Most men's magazines out there are either mostly workout or girlie magazines. This one has a variety of subjects, it's in a class by itself! It's geared more for the older mature male, who's more situated in life & knows what he wants in life. Very interesting & enjoyable, very good reading, not all ads... I plan on subscribing to this magazine for some time!

5 out of 5 stars More mature than Men's Health   February 3, 2005

I read both, Best Life and Men's Health. I like them both. But I find Best Life to be geared toward a better level of maturity than Men's Health. Comparing the two would be like comparing Humphrey Bogart to Leonardo DiCaprio. Both are good actors, but one is more mature.

Best Life covers health issues, exercise/fitness programs, married life, divorced life, raising kids, etc., in, generally, a more elevated manner than its brother magazine.

For the middle aged, or more grown up male, Best Life is a good choice.

5 out of 5 stars A magazine for mature (not old) men who work, play, and live but work for a living   September 22, 2006

Best Life is quite possibly the very BEST men's magazine I've ever encountered. It's not for metrosexuals. It's not for niche markets. It not designed to specifically market clothing or housewares so exorbinently priced that only the upper eschelon could (or would bother to) afford them.

The editorial staff is intelligent and cognicent of who their target market is: mature men, likely with families, but who are not "over the hill" in the sex department, and who travel and enjoy life. In short this is a real magazine with interesting stuff that everday men could enjoy. It's not full of travel and clothing suggestions that you'll only dream about.

The articles are ones you'll actually read. The articles are positive and life affirming (and family affirming). I really enjoyed the issue that featured a pictorial on famous men and their sons (call it the Father's Day issue). How many magazines can you think of that promote fatherhood?

I look forward to every issue that comes out and often I'm yearning for it before it arrives. I've never enjoyed a magazine more. I've recommended the magazine to all my straight and gay friends and almost, to a man, they've all subscribed! It's a good magazine for men of ALL walks of life.

I like the "Ask the Head Coach" section when they have questions and answers for real poignant questions: "How do I convince my son to go to college?" Sex advice? Sure it has it occasionally and it's not geared toward the Playboy crowd. This is good stuff.

I venture to say that if you've got teen-aged sons, they'd benefit from this magazine as well. This is a men's magazine that isn't afraid to speak to real men who live as most of U.S. society does: working for a living, maybe supporting a family, and trying to make ends meet, but who have questions and curiosities about a variety of things.

Do yourself a favor and subscribe to this magazine!

5 out of 5 stars I am a 32 year old single woman...   August 3, 2007

I found this magazine because someone left it behind on an airplane. I picked it up and really enjoyed reading about something other then lipstick and weight loss. There is a lot of practical info in this magazine and I really enjoy reading articles from this male perspective. To be honest, this magazine is all about the guy that I hope to find one day and I kind of like reading about him now...

5 out of 5 stars Great for serious guys who don't need scantily-clad women on every page!   November 29, 2007

I have always wanted to find a good men's magazine that had serious articles about things that mattered to me AND didn't have porn or near porn all over it. Best Life accomplishes that goal.

I got the subscription on accident with my frequent flier miles (wrote down the wrong code) and have loved my mistake! I've just signed up for a renewal.

Best Life covers topics from relationships, sex, divorce, money, fatherhood, fashion, etc. from a mature point of view. But while they are mature, they are also humorous, etc. There's always an article about some famous guy and what makes them tick. There's also always some hot celebrity female in an article but she has a fair amount of clothes on - enough that my wife doesn't mind.
