My favorite magazine October 21, 2005 77 out of 81 found this review helpful
This is the best magazine I've read lately. It is still new, and I've only received 4 issues, but read each cover to cover, finding each article fascinating, and very accessible (unlike the parent publication, which is occasionally over my head.) It may be just because I like the subject matter - but it seems to me these are subjects which would interest most people. Some recent articles (as of Oct. 2005) included why we lie, the meaning of dreams, the nature of consciousness, what causes creativitity, what is deja vu. It is one subscription which is well worth the money. The only drawback I've found is that it is quarterly - sometimes it seems like a long wait between issues.
Scientific American Mind Magazine is Exceptional! July 19, 2005 42 out of 44 found this review helpful
Substantial number of articles and more interesting and informative than Psychology Today. And each one was well written, easy to read and not boring as some science articles can be. I like that there are just four issues a year so I don't feel the pressure to read all the magazines stacking up. And I am keeping the last issue as a reference, I usually just give them to friends. I eagerly await the next issue.
Mind Engaging February 26, 2006 33 out of 36 found this review helpful
This is my favorite magazine about the mind, particularly with respect to consciousness. It's like a meeting of the minds (no pun intended) between spiritual phenomena and scientific discovery. The articles are seriously interesting and always have a new twist. I do wish it was printed more frequently however it is worth the wait for each issue.
A favorite magazine November 25, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is one of my favorite periodicals that I look forward to reading when issued. There are always interesting facts, articles, and stories related to the human mind. The range of topics that each issue covers is very wide and always leads to further thought and research during my free time.
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN: MIND IS VERY INFORMATIVE! August 16, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have been reading this magazine for many years, and it is filled with the lastest information concerning the mind, brain, how the body reacts to the functions of the brain, how the brain reacts to the functions of the body, how individuals relate to one another based on the functioning of their brains (and why they function and react the way they do) and many, many other aspects of the mind. The magazine is written in laymans terms and has few advertisements (if any...can't remember seeing any). Many times, there are colorful pictures to help explain what you are reading. You don't need them, but they are nice to see so you don't have to concentrate on visualizing what you are reading. This is a bi-monthly magazine. If you are like me, it's hard to wait until the next issue arrives. You, definitly, get your monies worth, because there is so much information PACKED into every one of the 6 issues.
