Amazon.com Michael Bubl's assured debut and the tireless year of globe-trotting touring he spent promoting it elevated the 20-something Vancouver native into the first rank of pop crooner revivalists. His sophomore studio follow-up largely turns on the same formula that helped make his considerable vocal prowess so attractive to mainstream audiences, mixing the nigh flawless, if expected Sinatra-channeling ("I've Got You Under My Skin") with more playful and inviting renditions of pop standards like the Gershwin's "A Foggy Day in London Town," "Feeling Good," "Try A Little Tenderness" and Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin." But it's the eclectic mix of more contemporary material the singer seasons them with -- apt tribute to Bubl hero Bobby Darin -- that keeps him walking the narrow tightrope between artistic intrigue (a blues-tinged vamp of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "How Sweet It Is," Leon Russell's lovely "Song For You," with a guest turn by Chris Botti) and the kitsch-laden abyss ("Quando, Quando, Quando"'s Euro-centric duet with Nelly Furtado, a ring-a-ding-fling with the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" that echoes fellow Canadian crooner/rival Matt Dusk's more successful flirtation with Lennon-McCartney). Arranger/producer Tommy LiPuma offers Bubl a welcome swinging jazz showcase on "The More I See of You," a bracing respite from the rest of producer David Foster's slick, if typically bloodless MOR production. -- Jerry McCulley [Note: A special edition including two bonus tracks--"Dream a Little Dream" and "Mack the Knife"--is also available.] Michael Bubl and More Michael Bubl | Come Fly with Me | Totally Bubl | Come Fly with Me (DVD) | Two Shots | Peter Cincotti |

Sizzlin' sentimental songs - February 9, 2005 223 out of 236 found this review helpful
Oh my this cd is soooooooo hot. My eardrums are smokin' and so will yours. David Foster and Humberto Gatica prove once again that their partnership in sound production has no rival for attention in my ears.
Michael Bubl and Nelly Furtado sing a sentimental samba duet that sealed my affection at track four. "Quando, Quando, Quando" is so outstanding. It starts with a gentle guitar by Heitor Pereira and spectacular flute by Dan Higgins. The echo of Nelly Furtado's voice is lovely and her voice is so compatible with Michael's. Then they sing together and her harmony with his is just incredible.
I think the tempo changes and Big-Band arrangement of "Can't Buy Me Love" show off Michael Bubl at his vocally versatile finest. "The More I See You" is another smokin' swing treat.
I was thinking at about track 8 with the saucy, latin "Save The Last Dance for Me" that there is just no way I can handle anymore musical tenderness today. And then I hear the ballad "Try a Little Tenderness" at track 9 (the piano by Randy Waldman creates mood du jour). Jochem Van der Saag's keyboard and harmonica contributions on "How Sweet it Is" are remarkable at track 10. I'm sure at that point in the disc I can't stand anymore when Chris Botti's trumpet and Michael's voice on "Song for You" reduced me to pathetic pile of pudding. I was toast - both sides.
I think this cd is even better than Michael's debut and I have to say his first cd blew me away.
I will never tire of this audio heaven. Never.
"can it get any better than this ~ Michael Buble" February 8, 2005 123 out of 128 found this review helpful
Pop vocalist of the millennium is Michael Buble, the Vancouver crooner with his latest release "It's Time", arriving near the eve Valentine's Day Buble with new material and some vintage standards...featuring an unforgettable youthful style that takes you back to the '40s, '50s and '60s...listening to every tune on this album brings back memories of Nat King Cole (one of my favorite singers of all time), Bing Crosby, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra as they were crooning favorite standards of the day...he is a cross between James Dean and Elvis Presley in appearance, but has the style and ability of Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin...Michael has the uncanny ability to nail each track with his signature style and making it his own.
Sit back and let's take a listen to the selections on this guaranteed winner..."FEELING GOOD", wonderful arrangement by David Foster, as Buble sings the orchestrated brass gives off a James Bond flavor and you're waiting for your drink...shaken not stirred..."A FOGGY DAY (In London Town)", great arrangement by Bill Holman on this classic George & Ira Gershwin tune, swingin' big band is here and alive..."YOU DON'T KNOW ME", composed and recorded by Eddy Arnold, later performed by Jerry Vale and Ray Charles, always a favorite of my wife Judy, her reaction to Michael's recording is the best yet..."QUANDO, QUANDO, QUANDO", very big hit for Englebert Humperdinck, just like the late Bing Crosby, Buble has more fun with duets and it shows with Nelly Furtado, latin arrangement by David Foster is contagious..."HOME", composed by Michael Buble, arranged by David Foster and Bill Ross is the most requested song from this album on the airwaves..."CAN'T BUY ME LOVE", jazzy arrangement by John Clayton Jr and David Foster, more than a toe-tapper, as Buble swings with a vengence..."THE MORE I SEE YOU", arranger John Clayton Jr. shows you why the late Billy May with Capitol Records was the greatest arranger for the label, Buble swings this one in the Sinatra style and you're loving every minute of it..."SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME", with a rumba beat the tempo is close to the Drifters classic arrangement, only better and Michael is having a ball..."TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS", dim the lights and pour your favorite beverage, with your favorite partner this is a lush arrangement by David Foster and Bill Ross, the lyrics tell the whole story..."HOW SWEET IT IS", the classic Motown hit from yesteryear with swingin' brass and harmonica that arranger John Clayton Jr. provides for Buble to make his entrance groove..."SONG FOR YOU", the great Leon Russell's hit, arranged by David Foster and Bill Ross with guest artist Chris Botti on trumpet is completely mesmerizing ..."I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN", look out Ole Blues Eyes, cause the Vancouver crooner is on the loose with the one and only Nelson Riddle arrangement orchestrated by Sammy Nestico courtesy of Paul Anka, not bad company for Michael to be in..."YOU AND I", composer Stevie Wonder arranged by David Foster and Jeremy Lubbock brings a tear to your eye as Michael pours his heart out, along with heartfelt lyrics and brings it home, just listen quietly and see if you don't agree...entire album has soul...this track alone is worth the price of the album.
My wife and I were fortunate enough to see Michael in a St. Louis concert, met him back stage...might add this young man made a very positive impression on all who attended that night's show...he's a first class guy and has everything going for him...couldn't happen to a nicer person...it's like second nature with his natural ability to vocalize and be a crowd pleaser is pure magic...shows why Buble has the the stuff stars are made of...he's the hottest property in the genre of "American Standards" today...as Michael warns his band, "get ready it's about to start all over again"...climb aboard this musical merry-go-round, you'll never regret it...Good Luck, Michael!

This is good music February 9, 2005 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
It's Time is a pleasure to listen to. Michael Buble is a very talented singer. He sounds like the Frank Sinatra of the 21st century. He even covers the classic Sinatra song I've Got you Under My Skin superbly. He also covers the Beatles hit Can't Buy Me Love here, and he gives it a pleasant lively spin. My favorite track is Home though. It is an excellent song about being away from someone you love and longing to be with that person. Another highlight track on this CD is the duet with Nelly Furtado Quando Quando Quando. It is a very romantic song about two people in love. I also enjoyed the song Feeling Good. It is an optimistic song of renewal. This track has a nice jazz sound to it, that I really liked it. Try A Little Tenderness is a pretty song. It is a reminder to show a little compassion and tenderness to someone who needs it. Buble's voice is so soothing especially on a song like You Don't Know Me. This song is so relaxing. I recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys good music.

Grammy Nominated and worthy of it! January 13, 2006 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Michael Buble's It's Time has been nominated for two Grammys - the first for Best Traditional Vocal Pop and second for the Beatle remake of Can't buy Me love. Being considered, AND worthy of this honor speaks volumes about this young man's talent and ability. I love this cd and so will you and millions of others as we enter the Buble' Era. Let's enjoy the ride.......
