Seems to be fine to me. July 28, 2008 I've owned this gas can for several years now, and have absolutely no problem with it. It's common sense not to over-fill it, and to pour slowly. Still having problems?...buy a funnel!
Don't Understand Why People Are Having A Problem September 13, 2008 After reading several very negative reviews of this product, I decided to purchase anyway and see for myself. Based on past experience with Blitz products I didn't believe this self-venting can could be so poorly designed. Plus Amazon's price was exceptional.
Well, surprise, I've had none of the problems reported by others -- no leaks, no dribbling, nothing. It performs as one would expect. Of course you'll need a funnel to get gas into your mower, but that's expected. So my advise -- try it for yourself, and follow the instructions regarding how to install the nozzle.
Blitz 5 gallon fuel can December 9, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Failure to use a funnel with this gas can will splatter/spill fuel all over the place. The nozzel plug could be simpler, like a rubber plug. The back handle is helpful. The color on other Blitz cans I've had a few years has faded badly; hope these hold up better.
I've never had a spill with these cans. April 7, 2007 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I've never spilled any gas with these cans over about 4 years of using them. Maybe I pour slower. I'm no fluid engineer, but I assume a slower pour is necessary in a self-venting spout. Air has to get it where the liquid is coming out.
I just bought 4 more to replace some that were purchased at a higher price at the local hardware.
I wish all the negative reviews would add an alternative product recommendation. C'mon folks, what brand do you use?
I also find it interesting that another Blitz fuel container with the same spout system, BLITZ "6 Plus" Self-Venting Gas Can has an Amazon rating of just under 4 stars. The negative reviewer on that item says he breaks spouts. Yeah, if you try support 6 gallons by hanging the load on a plastic spout, it's going to break.
The only problem I've had is losing caps. But Blitz sent me a dozen gratis and I found that furniture leg caps work great too. The furniture caps do in fact seal the spout tighter than the stock version and stay put better too.
A Little big and heavy when full August 27, 2008 For my use, This Gas Can does the trick. It has positive fitting blocker and spout. It does not leak in my car (at least when the cap is tight). So Far So Good. I might have preferred a 4 gallon can though since it would be a little smaller.
