Amazon.com Product Description
Call of Duty is back, redefining war like you’ve never experienced before. Building on the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War immerses players into the most gritty and chaotic WWII combat ever experienced. Players band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles that led to the demise of the Axis powers on the European and Pacific fronts. The title offers an uncensored experience with unique enemies and combat variety, including Kamikaze fighters, ambush attacks, Banzai charges and cunning cover tactics, as well as explosive on-screen action through the all new four-player cooperative campaign. The addictive competitive multiplayer has also been enhanced with new infantry and vehicle-based action, a higher level cap, more weapons, and a host of new Perks, maps and challenges. Features:
New Enemies, Environments and Tactics: Face off against ruthless and tactically advanced enemies that will stop at nothing to defend their homelands, from swamp ambushes and tree-top snipers to fearless Kamikaze attacks. Play as a U.S. Marine and Russian conscript across a variety of Pacific and European locations against the fearless Imperial Japanese and elite German soldiers in epic adrenaline-filled infantry, vehicle and airborne missions. Co-Op Campaign Mode, Call of Duty Style: For the first time in the franchise, Call of Duty: World at War introduces co-op play, bringing fresh meaning to “No One Fights Alone”. Campaign co-op features up to four-players online, or two-player local split-screen, allowing gamers to experience harrowing campaign missions together for greater camaraderie and tactical execution. Co-op mode incorporates innovative multiplayer components such as challenges, rankings and online stats for deeper re-playability and multiplayer experience bonuses. Co-op mode also features Competitive Co-Op that will show who is really the best player on your team. Enhanced Multiplayer: Call of Duty: World at War continues the class-based multiplayer action the series is famous for. The addition of vehicle combat with tanks rounds out the multiplayer experience, and features such as persistent stats, player rankings, upgradeable weapons, squad-based gameplay, customizable classes and Perks, have been further enhanced. The Call of Duty Experience: Call of Duty: World at War utilizes cutting-edge technology including highly-detailed character models, self-shadowing, environmental lighting and amazing special effects to deliver jaw-dropping visuals. Depth of field, rim-lighting and texture-streaming technology bring the adrenaline-pumping combat to life, while physics-enabled battlefields and fire that spreads through environments realistically immerses players into the harrowing and dynamic combat.

Best first pirson shooter game ever December 12, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've payed $50 for that awsome game and it was shipped free to my home in Idaho.
The game basicly is totally worth the $50. That's by the solo game and the multiplayer game once your done with the solo game you just open the multiplayer verstion and you'll have totally another fantastic experience not less than the solo game

Overall, a good game. very enjoyable to pay. The only problem I had was getting it from Amazon. It took a week to ship when I pre-ordered it. Probably the last time I'll pre-order anything from Amazon again
Best CoD Yet December 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have played them all from the beginning save for 3 which was not released on PC. This is by far my favorite. I have Vista with an Nvidia 8800 something and had no problems. Though it did run slower that CoD 4 and I had to notch down some of the graphics settings. No crashes that others are complaining about.
The only negatives I agree with are the weps do sound kind of weak and it is taxing on the system.
The positives are many. The game is just as long if not longer than CoD 4. The graphics are by far the best yet. The death animations are extremely realistic. Flamethrower effects are incredible. AI is easily on par with the previous CoD.
I do not understand the harsh criticism of this game. On gaming sites it does not get trashed like it does here. I highly recommend this to anyone who liked the previous CoD games, but make sure your system can handle it.
Dont understand all the Negative hits December 15, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been reading all the negative reviews about this game and still took the chance to buy it nontheless because i'm anti DRM.This game is downright amazing, whoever thought thought the campaign mode was too short clearly did not play the game on the highest difficulty setting. The game runs @ 70+FPS on my 1+ year old C2D E6850, 8800GTX, 2GDDR2, SB X-FI fatality platinum and vista 32 with absolutely no hiccups. The graphics is the best i've seen (better tham fa***ut 3) the sound, well you dont expect guns from the 1940's to sound like thoes in CODMW however the voice acting is perfect and music totally rocks. This is what a wargame should look feel and sound like, a must buy for all COD fans. Cant wait for Modern Warfear 2 *flamethrowers and bayonets really adds to the excitement
Bad Press, Great Game! December 19, 2008 I have seen the hordes of negative reviews for Call of Duty World at War and, quite frankly, I am amazed. This game is fantastic! I am a huge CoD fan and this game did not let me down. I must add that I only play single-player mode so I can't comment on the online play.
The game has a similar feel to previous CoD titles where you switch back and forth between different forces to fight battles with the enemy. Fighting in the climax of the great World War II and charging the Reichstag in Berlin gave me chills! The voice acting is superb (featuring none other than Jack Bauer!), the levels are well designed and varied. There is a nice mix between running around on foot, driving a tank and manning the guns on a flying fortress.
My recommendation is to give this game a chance. It really is a lot of fun. Other games I love are CoD1/2/4, Far Cry, BF1942, Bioshock, Medal of Honor series (all) just to give you a feel for what I like. So, ease up guys, the game is good. Go play it!
