Product Description RuffWear is always thinking of ways to make our dogs safer during their active pursuits. Their latest innovation is the illuminating, high-visibility, Glow-in-the-Park technology (1000 ft./300 m visibility). If reflective accessories promise improved visibility, Glow-in-the-Park technology sets a new standard with lighted-visibility. The technology uses a compact battery-pack to illuminate bright blue flexible wires running along the sides of this orange and yellow dog vest to keep your pal in sight-especially important in conditions where reflective materials can't be seen. For added visibility, the contrasting colors and reflective trim of the Lighted Lab Coat stand out in a range of light conditions. This durable and great-fitting safety vest gives you peace-of-mind knowing your dog will be easy to spot in rural and urban settings, night or day when you take him out for walk or run!

Only product like it... November 5, 2008 I bought the Lighted Lab Coat because we have a black lab that would otherwise be invisible at night, and I wanted something that would enable me to safely take our dog mountain biking with us at night. This vest greatly enhances her visibility. The yellow color is bright and visible, and the lighted strips make the dog visible when no other lights are shining on her. For these reasons, the vest performs well and I am overall happy with the purchase.
I do feel that there are some shortcomings, however. First, is the durability. I've already had to send the coat back and get a new one because the lighting elements have broken. Unfortunately, the light strip are not durable enough to allow the coat to be folded and put in a pack. We folded ours and put in in our backpack when our dog didn't need to be wearing it, and the lighting element snapped inside and no longer works. Second, the coat is touted as being water resistant, but the battery pack clearly could not withstand a brief submerging. That might not sound important, but our lab LOVES the water, and if we go by a pond, a stream, etc, when we're on the trail, sometimes she's in the water before we can get the chance to stop her. Fortunately, she hasn't gone swimming deep enough yet to submerge the battery pack. Third, (minor detail) it would be nice if they had more sizes, because our dog is right in between the large and medium sizes - large is very big on her and the medium is a bit too small, but we make it work. All in all, I still like the lighted lab coat and will continue to use it.
