Much better than faucet-mount... November 30, 2003 59 out of 59 found this review helpful
My wife and I have immensely enjoyed the wonderful water we get from our Pur filtration pitcher. It's very convenient -- just pour water into the top, and it will, albeit slowly, drip through the filter. Over time, as the filter clogs, it will get slower, so the key is to add more water every time you pour more out -- that way, it's filtering while you are drinking and you aren't waiting. It's actually much more convenient than the faucet-mount filters, which inevitably leak and get painfully slow and force you to wait... Pur is better than Brita, by the way, if you get the Ultimate filters, which filter out cryptosporidium and giardia in addition to chemicals and gunk. Brita doesn't do that; it's an important feature if you have iffy water systems (Mexico, Russia) or a weak immune system...
Best Filter I have found April 11, 2005 39 out of 40 found this review helpful
I had the bigger Pur Dispenser when I lived in Las Vegas and loved it to death. Being in the military I recently moved to South Korea, where the water is a nice dark brown coming from the tap. Yum Yum. I picked up the Pur Pitcher and the water from it is absolutly purfect. By far better than the bottled water I was drinking before I got this, not to mention the money I save with this filter. The only gripe I have is that its not the Dispenser wich holds much more water, but the compact pitcher works brilliantly. I couldn't be happier...it will filter mud into pure crystal clear water. Good stuff, highly recomend this filter
Small but satisfactory February 21, 2006 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is my second Pur Ultimate, the other was larger, but the other also developed a minute leak at the bottom seam. I see that others who had purchased the larger PUR pitcher complained of the same problems. I am hoping that this smaller unit which holds less water may experience less stress and will rightfully earn the 5 stars I am giving it. The main reason I am giving 5 stars is because of the filter involved, it is not simply a taste filter, it is certified as the only filter that removes the microbiological cysts Cryptosporidium and Giardi.
Use ours everyday February 13, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
We've had our pitcher for about a year and a half and use it everyday especially for coffee, tea and cooking. When cooking, it's easier to keep the pitcher next to the stove and pour water out of it than go to the fridge to get filtered water from there.
The pitcher comes apart for easy washing, is sturdy and the filtered water tastes very good. Our water here isn't usually that bad tasting, but we can certainly tell the difference between the filtered water and tap water. Personally, we prefer using a pitcher instead of having a filter on the faucet which takes up too much space at the sink - but that's just our personal preference.
The price is right and the filters are readily available. We're very happy with ours.
Better than Brita January 9, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have used both Brita and PUR products and consistently have found PUR to be better in both design and taste. The lid to the pitcher is a piece that lifts completely off and on; it would be nicer if it was a bit sturdier or a flip-top, however, unlike another review, I haven't found it to be a problem. I'm very happy with this PUR pitcher. Nice size for one or two people and uses the 2-step filter.
