My 5-year old loves showing off her artwork! October 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My daughter received this for Christmas, and could not WAIT to get started decorating it. The kit came with quite a bit of crafting/scrapbooking supplies, so she was able to get started right away. The designs fit into pockets on the inside of the umbrella, and are relatively protected from the weather. She loves making new designs to put in the pockets, and uses everything from construction paper to feathers to sequins to photos of she and her friends. She even used some of the left over wrapping paper from Christmas for a while!
As for the umbrella construction itself, it is a clear bubble type umbrella like I had when I was a child (why can't you find these for adults?) It seems pretty sturdy, and has held up through very strong winds. The clasp that holds the umbrella open or closed is childproofed, so no chance of pinched fingers. There are pink polka dots and handle, so not quite appropriate for boys. My son would love to have one for himself in boy-colors.
If your daughter is crafty or artsy, this is a great item. I will be getting one to give as a gift.
(PS: tried changing FUN to 4 stars on my daughter's recommendation, but couldn't)
