Every time you go to purchase a new computer, the things that you are usually looking for are things like what type of operating system it comes with and whether or not you can make DVDs. But then, you never hear a person say he is going to buy this new computer because of the mouse that comes with it. The computer mouse has always just been something really simple that will permit you to move your cursor around the screen. And for some individuals that is fine, but other computer users want something more. But now Logitech is modifying the way computer users use a mouse, which is why we are reviewing the Logitech Wireless Trackball M570.
The evolution of the mouse has been a slow process, nevertheless there have been some changes over the years. You may not be old enough to recall but a mouse used to have a roller ball at the bottom and a single left click button, that was just about it. In time, the mouse evolved with a second button on the right, and then to truly kick things up they included a finger scroll. And last they removed the roller ball and included optics.
But these days there is a totally new mouse peeking its head. This latest mouse that has been developed doesn’t even look like a mouse, at least in the traditional sense.
A few years ago, computer users started producing wireless mice for the computers and this new mouse has kept with the wireless feature. The actual receiver is not truly any larger than a quarter, you simply plug it into your computer and leave it there. One of the fantastic things about this receiver for the mouse is that you can use it on your laptop computer and it will never be in the way of anything you’re doing. Another terrific thing about this is that you can use this mouse even if you’re 30 feet away from the desktop computer where the receiver connected to. Allowing you to be sitting in a chair or on your bed and still be able to control your cursor.
However, that is not the best feature. As for me, I like the Trackball technology. This technology lets you use the mouse without the use of a mouse pad or even a flat surface, in fact you can set this mouse on the arm of your sofa and use it from there. Since you can control the cursor with a thumb controlled trackball, you can use this mouse anywhere you want.
In addition, this mouse still has the same functions as your regular mouse like the click buttons and wheel, so you will not have to get used to a new way of using the mouse other than the trackball. However, it comes with a few other features like programmable one touch buttons that you can use for everyday tasks. You can even use the mouse with your browser because it has also provided the forward and back navigation buttons. Logitech has created a feature-packed mouse.
One more thing I wanted to mention is the battery life. The mouse is powered by 1 AA battery, but the great part is you won’t be replacing the battery weekly since the battery can last up to 18 months. Needless to say, the life of the battery will vary between computer users as some people will be using their PC 8 to 12 hours every day. However, even if you only get 6 months from one battery, that is amazing.
This mouse retails for about $45, which is actually about double the price of a traditional optical mouse. I am fairly sure you can see the value of this new and improved Logitech wireless mouse.
