Nice Tv January 29, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This TV has been working fine so far. Pros: -Good picture quality. -Very Easy to use menu driven user interface. -Option to set up Favourite Channels in the remote control. -Slim design Cons: - Many times it skips channels when you change channels thru the remote control. -The button on remote for changing channels and volume are very small. -Slow when changing channels. -Slow scanning of channels (one time deal)
I have a question for the Sharp users, after the initial scan of Analog/Digital Channels my Sharp picks up the digital channels thru its internal ATSC tuner I beileve ike (4.1, 13.5 etc),I don't have a comcast box only the cable going directly to the TV, however it has many blank channels also in between and I don't know how to get rid of them as I have to keep going thru the channels by pressing +/- on remote until I find some channel that has some content in it. Normally scanning (automatic tuning) would take of that I believed but that is not the case here. Any advice from any of the experts would be appreciated.
A "surprise" from my husband August 22, 2008 3 out of 12 found this review helpful
I don't really care about HDTV. My sad state of TV watching includes a bunch of crap on Noggin, PBS and Cartoon Network. I rarely get to watch grown up TV.
I will concede that the picture is super. It is almost freaky how news anchors seem to be sitting in your living room. Who wanted to know how many freckles the weather girl has? Not me, for sure. But the Olympics were awful crisp and movies are over the top.
The sounds is taking a bit to get used to. Not sure why, but it seems that commercials are 50 times louder than the programming. If I cared all that much, I would fix it, I suppose.
It was well worth the money, as far as my husband is concerned.
Bugs December 3, 2007 58 out of 126 found this review helpful
I have had this TV for two months now. It's a great TV and I'm not going to repeat the compliments in other reviews here. I gave it two stars to catch people's attention to the "bugs" I found on this TV. One evening, I turned on the TV and found a spider on the screen. As I was about to blow it away, I found it actually reside inside the screen, between the image and the front cover. So I drove it off of the screen by tapping on the front cover. I was wondering if there's easy entrance for a spider of a remote control button size, how to keep dust from accumulating on top of what I'm watching.
Not long after, I found another spider on the screen again. This time after I drove it away, I found that it left something on my screen, a black spot bigger than a dead pixel. The next thing I could imagine was, across my screen, a stream of ants coming after the spider's dump. The manual does not instruct how to open up the screen to clean it. So I sent Sharp support a message requesting help and was told to call their Customer Assistance Center. So I did. After spending an hour going through a marketing type of survey, I was told that it's not a defect of the TV and is not cover under warrantee. The most they were able to suggest is to bring the TV to a local service center to see what they can do, of course at my expense.
Thin Grey Line Through Center of TV 3 months after warranty expired October 19, 2008 32 out of 44 found this review helpful
My original LC42D64U experienced a thin grey line through the center of the tv screen. It is not a banding issue as its vertical in nature. This issue was experienced by many buyers as evidenced by a simple google search. It apparently is a join issue between the panels.
The only reason I would recommend this tv and sharp is that Sharps customer service was excellent. Emails were replied to within hours, English was spoken clearly and I was given a brand new model minus shipping costs within 2 days of reporting this issue, even though I was our of warranty.
As for the television itself, the picture is excellent, and the amount of inputs are perfect.
30 Mins out off the box it broke November 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
TV broke in first half hour of use, Sharp sent some guy who buckled it in to the backseat of his mini-van to fix it. Would not replace the set, I'm pretty upset becuase the NEW tv I bought lasted a couple mins and now I own a refurb that has been cracked open and repaired. Don't buy a TV from this company, crappy products and horrible customer service.
