I got two of these. One to cool my laptop and the other to cool my external harddrives. You can connect them to anything with a usb port for power.
They come with a little dial that lets you determine the speed of the fan. I keep them at the lowest setting and they're barely audible (my laptop's fan makes more noise than these things). I would definitely recommend to anyone and the cool and geek factor is definitely there :)
The only problem I can think of is that I wish the dial knob on them had an option to turn them off. Like some old fans where you keep turning them to the left and it clicks off. Besides that they're fantastic.
They work aslong as whatever you have them connected to is on as they draw power from the usb port. So when my computer is off then the fans are off and upon boot the initialize and start to rotate.
Another thing that might be great to add to them is a filter so they don't blow dust everywhere and especially into what you have them pointed at. Wish they made a 120mm version.

my PS3, directv receivers, and few other electronics always seems it's running hot(Even with their built-in fans) These fans do a great job keeping these things cool. For example the HDdirectv receiver I have stays hot even when it's not on. This fan plugs into USB port of the receiver keeps it running cool. even at low fan setting it does great job. Very satisfied!!!!!

this fan is great, I got a couple of Motorola DVR-s that I kept having to change because their hard drive gets hot and goes bad and there goes all your saved programs, anyways, this thing is making so cool that the box feels cool to the touch, adjustable speed, great power, I love it and recommend it for cooling your self or anything else you like ;)

This fan is very nice, quiet and just what i need. I recently moved to a new office with no thermostat in my area and its about 10 degrees warmer than my old office. The stagnant air doesn't help and I cant work with a noisy fan at my desk. On low you can barley hear the fan even on high its a soft whirr at most. Doesn't disturb the other employees in my command center. I will agree with others it would be nice to have an off setting since my PC/laptop and docking station stay powered 24/7 most of the time but I can always unplug the usb cord if needed. Seller stated item would ship in 2-3 business days, i paid standard shipping and it was at my door in 3 business days.

I use this USB fan to cool my Satellite DVR and receivers which run very hot! They are quiet, adjustable speed and provide the needed cooling. Very pleased with this fan.
