5 out of 5 stars Best Car Mag out there   October 12, 2003
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

Car and Driver writers are indisputably, the best car journalists in the business. The writing is lucid and free of technical errors. Some other car magazines like Automobile get facts and statistics wrong like whether or not this car has a limited slip or what the 0-60 time is. Car and Driver never has such sophomoric mistakes.

The articles always include interesting metaphors and other such clever schemes. For instance, they descrive the S2000's seats as comfortable as your favorite pair of jeans.

Their yearly 10 Best Car comparison is one of the best comparisons of cars. Their head to head comparisons help empower the car consumer get a feel before he steps into the dealership.

One thing that readers accuse C&D of is their blatant BMW and Honda bias. The 3 series and Accord have been on their 10 Best list for an exceedingly long time. However, this is not without merit, these cars are extremely good at what they do.

Best car magazine!

5 out of 5 stars Still the best car magazine around   August 14, 2002

I have been reading this magazine and several other car magazines off and on for nearly twenty five years. For many of those years I have felt that the writing and attention to detail at Car and Driver deserved my commitment to a lengthy subscription.

The writing has evolved as the magazine changed editors and publishers but the outcome has always been the same; provide quality writing, unbiased detail, and an opinion. The writing and editing staff will present an opinion, stand behind it if they believe it is right and correct themselves if they find that they are wrong.

The pursuit of unbiased information has led the staff to take the lead in their development and implementation of test equipment and methods. Where else would you find a magazine that tests acceleration and deceleration using radar guns, strobe equipment and G.P.S. equipment?

While on the subject of "no other magazine," these guys have road tested hearses, armored limo's, tanks, fire equipment, garbage trucks made by Volvo, nuclear submarines, and a whole slew of other curiosities. These tests have nearly always been educational and fun to read.

The writers and editors take their jobs seriously and they have fun doing their jobs. Each month they strive to inform and entertain their readers with excelent writing, decent photographs, some education and a lot of fun. What more could anyone ask from a magazine?

5 out of 5 stars great fun, next best down from R&T   March 1, 2003

along with R&T, is the best car mag. unlike R&T, however, this one focuses more on test driving cars out on the market. it's studded with a great editorial staff who loves sports cars and give excellent and professional, albeit sometimes critical, reviews and comparisons. the best part about their features is the criticalness and wackines of the editors, with occassional strange and bizzare features like the infamous beater contest and nuclear submarine test drives. this is a great car magazine for the enthusiasts.

5 out of 5 stars Great Read!   June 13, 2003

This magazine is wonderful. I have subscriptions to both C&D and Motor Trend. Both of these are better than R&T (plus they are not as big-LOL). I like their tests and car selections, but it seems to me that they never do tests on Jeeps (and i have many issues). This doesn't really matter, but i think it is weird. Anyways, keep up the good work C&D!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Car Magazine on the Planet   June 13, 2005

Car and Driver is definitely the best automotive magazine in the world. This magazine has something for everybody, whether your a person just looking for a new car or a serious car enthusiast. I have been a Car and Driver sucscriber for 6 years now and I regularly purchase the other three popular, monthly car magazines (Motor Trend, Road & Track, and Automobile). By far Car and Driver is the best of the four, testing more automobiles per issue (about least twice as many as Road & Track per year), conducting larger comparison tests, and generally being the most enjoyable. Car and Driver is also greater fun to read as the editors are very prone to jokes and wisecracks, and not afraid to write how they really feel about a car, no matter how good or bad it is. The road tests are comprehensive with a long list of tests performed for every vehicle, and the good points and bad points listed along with a sentence summary of the vehicle. All the reviews are unbiased (mostly), and all vehicles are compared to similar cars in the same class. The bottom line: If you want a magazine that tests more motor vehicles than any other American car magazine, prints accurate specifications and performance tests results on each one, and includes autosport articles and up to date auto news, yet you don't want to fall asleep reading it, Car and Drvier is the magazine for you.
