great service, what is with all of the haters August 11, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Just a little history about me and my use of the software. I was a .mac user prior to mobile me. I switched over from pc about a year ago and have enjoyed the transition. I really like not being asked to fix everyone else's pcs any longer because they are tired of me saying, "Yeah, I don't have that problem on my mac."
Now the review. What is with all of the hating of this product? I love it. It pushes to my ipod touch, it works well on all of my computers. I do not understand why people are still griping. Did the roll out of this new product go smoothly? No, not in the least but all is well now. It was a rocky transition but Vista is still in transition nearly two years after a roll out.
For those unluckly 2% that had real mobileme problems, yes, you had it rough for a few days but the rest of us were mostly mad because it did not get started until a day or so after we expected.
Benefits The push feature on email, address book, and calendar are great. I can make a change on my ipod touch (or iphone) and my home computer in another country is updated.
As an added benefit I really like how everything flows together. I realize that I can publish my pictures on another site but I like how iPhoto integrates into my online gallery. I realize that I can publish videos to any site but I like how iMovie integrates to my gallery.
Some have said that all of these features in mobile me can be found in other places. Most of the online features are available but they are not integrated, they are unreliable, and who wants all of the advertisements? I had been using these work arounds prior to .mac and now mobileme... it is worth the $80 or so that mobileme costs to not have to deal with the other services.
After using the service for a few weeks, I upgraded to the family plan so that my wife could use it as well. She loves it.

Rough start, but works well for me August 19, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Everyone is aware of the rough start MobileMe had. I however, only experienced a couple days of inaccessibility. Since then it has worked flawlessly for me. I was an original .mac subscriber and while certain features (i.e. icards which was lame) have disappeared, some most certainly work better. The iDisk was non functional for me with .mac and now finally works! I really enjoy the online access to my calender now too. All in all, I'm not disappointed. Apple has also compensated users with an initial 30 day extension, and now just announced another 60 day extension. I'm satisfied.
Good product, which like all cloud stuff struggles August 26, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have used .Mac for about a year, and now that it has transitioned to MobileMe, I have to say that I think that it is a bit better. When I got my iphone, the phone immediately picked up over 400 contacts, calendar info etc. And that was as I was leaving the Apple store. There have been problems. Apple bit off more than they could chew, I believe, but they gave users, 3 months of access. Apple tries, it seems to me, to take care of their customers. That is more than I can say for much of the IT industry. I have had little problem with MobileMe except for the startup, when it went down. I have since upgraded and hope that it gets better. Apple seems to work hard to make their products fulfill what they have promised.
For me, email, calendar, photos (from iphoto and iphone), backup (which is slow, because, primarily of my net speed), and contacts, all work great. That, tied together with a great program like Omnifocus, and things are good. I have to give them a solid review, because, while they did choke a bit, they seem to be moving along quite nicely now.
It works fine NOW! Take reviews pre-August 1 with a grain of salt... August 31, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Almost all the reviews giving it 1 star are from the horrible period where Apple switched from .Mac to me.com and launched the iPhone 3G.
Those days are over now. It all works fine now. So all these complaints about it "not working" are now moot. I was angry at the time about the transition, but it's all worked fine for over a month (with 1 email outage for a couple hours), and it will only get better.
I would give it 4 stars due to some things they could improve, but gave it 5 to help cancel out all the spiteful 1s that no longer apply. :)
