Loved by all! October 30, 2008 I purchased this piano for my daughter for her 2nd birthday. She is my third daughter and both sisters are close in age, so finding the perfect gift for her is not easy.
When I came across the Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play piano, I was thrilled. I also am familiar with this brand, so I expected that it would be excellent quality.
When I received it....I was even more thrilled!!! The colors are bright and cheerful, the design is sturdy. Not only does my 2 year old love it, but my 3 and 4 year olds love it as well. The older two can both follow the learn-to-play book really well. It is easy to understand and all of the songs are classic kid songs (Row Row Row your Boat, Mary Had a Little Lamb,Im a Little Teapot, Twinkle Twinkle, A Tisket A Tasket, Old MacDonald, London Bridge is Falling Down, Pop, Goes the Weasel, The Farmer in the Dell). My 4 year old can actually play a couple of songs now, without even using the book, which is proof to me that kids really can learn from this adorable piano!
I would (and have) recommended this piano to my friends and family.
Great for younger kids too January 11, 2007 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
My Mom insisted on buying this for my 1 year old twins even though it suggests that it is suitable for 3 years and up. Well, they love it. They hammer on it, stand on it and pull it over. It is very robust. It is sufficiently in tune to play your favorite songs and comes with a handy little song book (probably more use to a 3 year old than my 1 year olds).
Kid tastic January 15, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Ok so it doesn't stay in tune that well, but really its for kids. Now I got it for our daughter when she was only 10 months old, and she loves it! Pounds away and is having fun. Isn't that what a toy is supposed to do? Its built out of sturdy wood, this will last.
fun for a toddler October 1, 2008 This piano is cute for a toddler. I ordered it for my 2 year old. She loves to bang on the keys and the color coding on the keys with the accompanying song book make it easy for me to play some of her favorite tunes. The size of the piano however, is not what I had expected. I thought it would be much larger... proportional to the size of a toddler. Instead, it is quite small. It is too short for my daughter to sit at with her toddler chair, but is too tall when placed on a coffee table unless she is standing up. I'm not sure how it was intended to be used, but is a good value nonetheless.
Listen before you buy October 5, 2005 9 out of 13 found this review helpful
We have the 4-key little tykes piano for my 21-month old son, which he has always loved. He has recently been really into pianos with more keys, and specifically the black-and-white keys. When we saw this, we thought it would make an excellent christmas gift as it's a "big boy's piano". We bought it cellaphone-wrapped, and when we got home unwrapped it, and were fairly disappointed with it's very tinny sound. We still plan on giving it to him for christmas and will write a new review then - we hope he loves it. Just a word of caution to try and listen to this particular piano before you purchase to be sure it's what you are looking for.
